Amtelco XDS - Leaders in TDM Board Technology
Amtelco was founded in 1976. Since its inception, Amtelco has
been a
leader in call center and telephony innovations. These
innovations led
to the XDS CTI Boards Division in 1980. The Amtelco XDS Division
designs, manufactures, and markets telephony interface boards,
conferencing boards, multi-chassis interconnection boards, BRI boards,
and analog port boards in a variety of formats (MVIP, SCSA, H.100 PCI,
and H.110 CompactPCI).
Amtelco XDS also modifies these boards for special applications.
Developers and specialized computer and telephony board manufacturers
worldwide utilize XDS technology to produce state of the art solutions
for central offices, call centers, wireless switching platforms, and
conferencing platforms.
XDS Series of Boards
The XDS series of boards was designed to bring the switching
capabilities of much larger switches to the PC platform. XDS, which
stands for eXternally Defined Switching, is the third generation of
switching products from Amtelco. The first generation was a voice
grade
line concentrator introduced in 1977. The second generation, the
Amtelco Switching Peripheral, or ASP, was introduced in 1985. The
ASP
is a general purpose, flexible switch designed to be controlled by a
host computer. It has been deployed in a wide variety of
configurations
with numerous PBXs, paging terminals, and voice storage
equipment. The
XDS series of boards, the third generation, draws on this experience to
bring the same level of switching capability to PCs. XDS boards
have
found wide usage with Computer Telephony developers.

been used in a wide array of telecommunications applications.
High-density Basic Rate Interface boards can be used for terminal,
network, and PBX interfacing. MC-3 multi-chassis technology
offers
reliable, fault tolerant connections between large numbers of telephony
servers. Conferencing solutions allow adjustable gains, DTMF
detection
and filtering, and dynamic switching. Analog line interface boards are
available with Station interfaces for connecting to standard
telephones, 2/4-wire E&M interfaces for connection to additional
PBXs or wireless transmitters, and loop start interfaces for Central
Office trunks. Amtelco XDS H.100 PCI boards can be interconnected
with legacy MVIP and SCSA hardware through the use of TDM adapters
available from Amtelco. Software driver support is available for
several operating systems including Windows NT, Windows 2000, UnixWare,
and Linux (Redhat 6.x & 7.x).
